Who we are
Feline Fancy Ltd ("we", "us") runs felinefancy.co.uk. We are a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15263419) and we are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us at info@felinefancy.co.uk.
What we collect
• When you order: your name, delivery and billing addresses, email address, phone number (if you give one), what you bought, and your card instructions (your chosen cat and personal message). Payments are processed by our payment providers; we never see or store your full card details.
• When you contact us: your messages and the details you give us.
• If you sign up to our newsletter: your email address and your marketing preferences.
• When you browse, and only with your consent: information about your device and how you use our website, collected with cookies and similar technologies (see "Cookies" below). Cookies that are strictly necessary for the website to work, such as your basket, are always used.
How we use it, and why
• To process and deliver your order, send order and dispatch emails, and handle returns and refunds – because we need to, to fulfil our contract with you.
• To keep accounting and tax records – because the law requires it.
• To answer your questions, prevent fraud and keep our website secure – in our legitimate interests in running our business.
• To send newsletters and offers – only with your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
• To understand how our website is used, and to measure and show our adverts – only with your consent, given through our cookie banner.
Cookies and similar technologies
When you first visit, our cookie banner lets you accept, decline or choose which types of cookies we use (Personalisation, Marketing and Analytics). Required cookies are always on. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie Preferences" link at the bottom of every page.
With your consent, we use:
• Google Analytics (Analytics) – to understand how visitors use our website.
• Google Ads and Google Merchant Center (Marketing) – to measure our Google adverts and product listings.
• Meta Pixel (Marketing) – If you accept marketing cookies, Meta, which runs Facebook and Instagram, receives information about the pages you view and actions such as adding to basket, starting checkout and completing a purchase (including the items, order value and currency), together with technical information sent by your browser, such as your IP address and browser and device details. When you start checkout or complete a purchase, our Shopify integration also shares the details you enter at checkout – your email address, phone number, name, town or city, county, postcode and country, and your customer number with us – so that Meta can match the purchase to a Facebook or Instagram account and measure our adverts. Where applicable, contact details such as your email address and phone number are converted into a coded form (known as hashing) before they are sent. We use this to measure our Facebook and Instagram adverts and to show adverts to people who may be interested in our products. We don't send data to Meta from our own systems (the "Conversions API"). If that changes, we'll update this policy first.
How long cookies last varies by provider and purpose. If you decline optional cookies, Google's tags may still send limited technical information to Google without using cookies – for example, that a page was viewed, together with the information your browser sends with any web request, such as your IP address and browser type – so that overall visits can be measured. Shopify, which runs our store, also uses cookies to operate the website: see shopify.com/legal/cookies.
Who we share it with
• Shopify – hosts our store and processes orders.
• Our payment providers – to take payment.
• Royal Mail and other delivery companies – to deliver your order.
• Our suppliers – some products are sent directly by our suppliers, who receive your name, delivery address and the items ordered.
• Google and Meta – as described under "Cookies", and only with your consent.
• Professional advisers, and authorities where the law requires it.
We never sell your personal information.
International transfers
Some of our providers, including Shopify, Google and Meta, process information outside the UK, for example in the United States and Canada. Where this happens, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as adequacy regulations or approved contract terms.
How long we keep it
• Order and payment records: six years, as required for tax purposes.
• Customer service messages: only as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry or order.
• Newsletter details: until you unsubscribe.
• Cookies: as described above.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, ask us to transfer it to you or someone else, and withdraw your consent at any time. Email info@felinefancy.co.uk and we'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113), but we'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Children
Our store is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when the way we use personal information changes, and change the date at the top.
