Discover the Best Cat Cafes You Need to Visit Around the World.
In case you were wondering, cat cafes are venues designed for cats and people to interact. The first cat café opened in Taiwan in 1998. Most of them also offer coffee, tea, and pastries. These cat cafés are known to be calming spaces aimed at enhancing their patrons well being.
At Feline Fancy we have created a comprehensive list of the best Cat Café in the world, which involves considering several key factors. These include the happiness and well being of the cats, thoughtfully designed layouts with cosy hidey holes, excellent drinks and snacks, and perhaps most importantly, a high ratio of friendly felines that love to snooze in or around our laps.
What to Look for in a Great Cat Café
- Two separate entrances: one for the food area and another for the cat area.
- Rules to protect the cats: no picking them up, only one person petting a cat at a time, and no waking sleeping cats.
- Spaces for the cats to retreat to when they need privacy, such as little cubbies and high perches.
- Healthy, bright eyed cats with even coats, all of whom look content and happy.
- A balanced mix of kittens, young adults, and older cats.
- Age limits (most cat cafés require visitors to be 12 or older, or have younger children accompanied by an adult, so check before bringing kids).
With that in mind, here are some of the best cat cafés around the world
Brooklyn Cat Café, Brooklyn, New York.
Cat Cafe Experience.
The woman welcoming guests at the entrance displayed excellent customer management skills. Throughout the Cat Café, several staff members were readily available to provide assistance, whether you were curious about the cats, interested in adoption, seeking a private room, or simply needed guidance. Their helpful and friendly demeanor added to the overall positive atmosphere. Notably, the staff demonstrated genuine care for the well being and health requirements of the cats, ensuring they were interactive and playful, while those resting remained relaxed and receptive to affection. Additionally, for those interested, the cafe also houses rabbits, rats, and turtles available for adoption. The only drawback is the limited capacity, necessitating reservations in advance. Nevertheless, I would eagerly return for another visit.

About Catmosphere Cat Cafe.
Catmosphere is Sydney’s original cat café, offering a variety of unique feline experiences. I love how passionate they are about cats, their welfare, rescue and rehoming, and advocating for all cats, whether they’re owned or unowned. They partner with two rescue groups, the World League for Protection of Animals and Kitten University. The World League works to find homes for all displaced cats, while Kitten University specializes in nursing young, orphaned kittens and rehoming them when they are healthy and old enough.
They also offer visitors plenty of information and resources about rescue cats. The café is owned and run by two amazing guys who have been rescuing and rehoming cats and dogs for over a decade. Cats are a huge part of their lives and a major driving force behind this quirky little café in Sydney.

Casa Del Gato, Zurich.
Cat Cafe Experience.
If you're a cat enthusiast, this cat café is an absolute must visit the atmosphere is wonderfully cosy, filled with playful and friendly cats that roam freely. The staff is incredibly passionate about cat welfare and the well being of their feline friends. It's a delightful spot to relax, sip on a coffee, and enjoy the company of some adorable cats. During my visit to this kitty café, all the cats were sleepy, so I wasn't able to pet them as they have to come up to you, but the page clearly warns about this possibility, so I came prepared. The staff was very friendly, and the coffee and cake were excellent and reasonably priced. The table was comfortable, making it easy to unwind and enjoy the experience. There's also a small souvenir corner where you can buy paintings, postcards, books, socks, and other various cat-themed items!
The café is very calm and relaxing, with delightful food and service. I was lucky to find a spot for three of us despite not having a reservation. The service was in English, which was a big help since my German isn't great. Overall, this cat café is perfect for any cat lover seeking good food, relaxation, and an afternoon tea experience. Note that the café allows cats to approach you on their own terms, respecting their needs and ensuring your mind is wide open to relaxation as you leave your table.
About Casa Del Gato Cat Cafe.
Simge Aglamaz was never a cat person, but after health issues forced her to slow down, she ended up caring for her partner's two British Shorthair cats. Initially annoyed, she soon fell in love with them, leading to lifestyle changes that included shorter holidays and more time at home. Inspired by the happiness the cats brought her, Simge opened Zurich’s first cat café, Casa del Gato, in December 2020. She spent a year planning, consulting with animal experts to ensure the cat welfare of the five male cats, including three Maine Coons and the two British Shorthairs. The cat café has clear rules to protect the cats and doesn’t charge an entrance fee, ensuring realistic customer expectations. Guests can enjoy good food at comfortable tables while experiencing relaxation as the cats roam freely. The cats, who have a designated rest area, often prefer to relax among the guests, contributing to the cat café’s cosy, welcoming atmosphere. This kitty café focuses on the cats needs and allows relaxation to come naturally, keeping both cats and customers' minds wide open to the unique experience.
The cat café offers an excellent sponsorship program to support the care of the kitties.
Bedford Cat Cafe, UK
Cat Cafe Experience.
I recently had a fantastic experience at the Bedford Cat Café, a delightful kitty café. The concept is lovely, especially since many of the cats are rescues with existing disabilities, which makes them even more special. The cat cafe is cozy with plenty of comfortable hangout spaces for the cats and guests. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the cats, enhancing the visit. The generous cake portions and nice coffee, along with the comfortable tables, made for a relaxing afternoon tea. Although parking needs to be found nearby, there are spots close to the café.
I spent a lovely morning there and was touched by the cat café’s focus on cat welfare and their special needs. The owner was very welcoming and easy to talk to about all things feline. As a cat lover, I can’t recommend this cat café highly enough—it’s the purrfect spot to relax, enjoy good food, and be surrounded by adorable, well cared for cats. I will definitely return soon.
